The Jets Will Host The Giants In Opening Preseason Game
After coin-flip gate earlier in the month, the NFL announced that the Giants would be opening the new stadium in week 1 of the regular season. However, the Jets were scheduled to open up the stadium in the preseason and play a Monday Night Football game the day after the Giants played their first regular season game. However, it now looks like both the Jets and Giants will be opening the new stadium in the preseason, at the same time.
According to a preseason schedule that was just released, the Jets and Giants will face off in week 1 of the preseason on August 16th. The Jets are slotted to be the home team, but I would imagine that they will be doing a joint opening of the stadium. I just hope this doesn’t start another Woody Johnson and Roger Goodell feud that will flood television and sports radio over the next week because most fans really just don’t care what team opens the stadium. The Jets will also play the Panthers, Redskins, and Eagles during the preseason.
