The New England Patriots have finally cut ties with linebacker Adalius Thomas. Thomas, a former 6th round pick, spent 6 seasons with Rex Ryan in Baltimore. Thomas had his best seasons in Rex Ryan’s system, being selected for the Pro Bowl twice. Adalius Thomas is a versatile player, having played ILB, OLB, DE, and DT at different points in his career, which is exactly what Ryan likes in a player. However, this was when Thomas was in his twenties. Thomas is now 32 years old and his production on the field has dropped off ever since he parted ways with the Ravens.
A few months ago, Bart Scott stated in an interview that Thomas expressed an interest in playing for the Jets, “It’s funny. I was hanging with Adalius Thomas for Super Bowl weekend. We’re buddies from back in the day. He made it public that he’s expressed an interest in joining Rex. I think some of his better years of his career have been [as] a part of the Ravens’ defense and under Rex Ryan’s tutelage. It’ll be exciting.” When asked about this conversation by the Boston Herald, Thomas denied the comments.
