Kris Jenkins is “100 Percent Healthy”
According to agent Tony Paige, Jets’ nose tackle Kris Jenkins is “100 percent healthy.” Jenkins suffered a torn ACL last season, which caused him to miss the majority of the 2009 season. This is good news for the Jets, because Jenkins is an absolute monster at stuffing the run and taking up blockers. It’s hard to believe that the Jets’ finished the season with the highest rated defense without one of their best players.
I expect the Jets to use Jenkins pretty sparingly this season. Sione Pouha and Mike DeVito exceeded everybody’s expectations last season while filling in for Big Jenks, so we’ll likely see a rotation among the defensive line next season. Jenkins is getting up there in years, and in 2008 he started to wear down towards the end of the season. The Jets need to keep Jenkins fresh throughout the season, so he is at full strength come playoff time.
